Class 1: Preparing for your

Pain-Free Journey

This class introduces you to the neuroscience behind pain and starts you on your journey to a pain free life with some information about how the brain affects pain, how exercise decreases pain, how to improve sleep, what to eat and if this will help reduce use of medications.  The following classes (2 through 7) take each item taught in this class and expands on it to provide you with more resources to step forward.

CLass 2: Know Pain, Know Gain

Neuroscience- the science behind pain.

You too can ace college neuroscience! This class will delve further into the science behind pain. Learn how people with chronic/persistent pain have very sensitive nervous systems and a very active brain. Learn that it is possible to calm down the brain and nerves and explore ways to do it.

Physical Activity, really?

Your doctor wants you to become more physically active but it just seems to make things worse. Learn what types of activity work best when you have chronic/persistent pain, how long and how hard you should do it and find out how physical activity can reduce pain.

Pain and Sleep, is it possible?

You know that better sleep will help but what can you do to create a better sleep environment? In this class you will learn how to sleep easier, what to do when you wake up at 3am and can’t get back to sleep and the best position unique to you to rest better for your problem.

What foods and supplements help?

In this class, we approach the subject of foods and how our dietary habits can affect your pain. We explore different diets and supplements and open the floor up to discussion. Share your experiences, what helps and what doesn't.

Is it possible to ever be free of pain meds?

Imagine if you could eventually use methods safer than taking opioid (or other) medication to manage your pain. Would you? Learn how to us physical therapy and engage a pain management team (including your physician) to continue your journey to a pain free life.

Come to this workshop to find out the top 5 causes for falling and learn 5 activities you can do to reduce your risk of falling.
